Main Street is more than just a street or a location to host the annual holiday parade!
Main Street is a destination. It is a look into our past. It is a philosophy. Main Street is a national movement that incorporates four principle areas, called 'the four points' . When applied correctly result in a successful, vibrant central business district.
The Four Points are:
These four points are addressed through four standing committees who create a workplan annually.
Main Street America has been helping to revitalize older and historic commercial districts for more than 35 years. Made up of small towns, mid-sized communities, and urban commercial districts, Main Street America represents the broad diversity that makes this country so unique.
Harrodsburg First is governed by a board of directors. Board members are selected from the community. Our bylaws allow for at least 5 and no more than 11 directors. These individuals have demonstrated an interest in downtown revitalization, historic preservation and the local business community.
Board members are appointed to a three-year term and may serve two consecutive terms before they must sit off for at least one year. Each board member must serve on one of our committees.
Committees are the lifeblood of any Main Street Program. We value each member who is willing to serve, and welcome you to consider getting involved in one of these groups. Just click on each committee to learn more about what services and programs we undertake.
If you're interested in serving on one of these groups simply email us at email@example.com
